The alleged killing of a member of the Nigerian Army by unidentified members of Ngbo community and subsequent revenge threat from the military, in Ebonyi state, has left residents of Ngbo in utter jeopardy.
Pandemonium struck today in the community, at about 2:45pm, as a group of persons dressed in military uniform invaded Umagudu Akpu community, killed ten persons and destroyed valuable property.
Famous Reporters recalls that Governor David Umahi had earlier issued 7-Days ultimatum to Ngbo community to produce the alleged missing soldier, even as Nigerian army in the area had also sworn to attack the entire Ngbo community for failing to provide useful information regarding the whereabouts of the missing Navy officer, suspected to have been killed by Umagudu Akpu community in Ohaukwu local government area.
Speaking with famous reporters, one of the Stakeholders, (name withheld) said the group of soldiers suspected to be members of Aghala Worriors did not stop at gruesomely killing the unarmed citizens numbering over 10 but also set ablaze houses, adding that the said military personnel threatened to eliminate the entire Ngbo community clan before the week elapses.
Moreso, another eye witness who spoke on anonymity also revealed that the massive killing of the innocent community members was spurred by an alleged threat by the state government on the community, pointing out that “Aghala has never killed Ngbo community up to this extent”, he said.
Hear him: “the undentified gun men started killing women, children from one family to another with the aim of killing the entire community before the neighbouring community raised alarm”, he explained.
“it is obvious that the government of Governor Umahi has already accused the community of being in the possession of the missing Navy officer which has resulted in killing innocent community members”, the source said.
He, therefore, called on the state government to make haste towards restoring adquate orderliness and peace among the neighbouring states.
Meanwhile, the true identities of the perpetrators of the act are yet to be ascertained.
