E.C.K Visit to Amangwu Ohafia Iriji Festival: A Step Forward in Grassroots Philanthropy

In a significant stride towards strengthening grassroots engagement and fostering community development, delegates from the E.C.K Foundation recently visited Amangwu Ohafia to participate in the annual Iriji (New Yam) Festival. The visit underscored the Foundation’s commitment to deepening it’s philanthropic impact and connecting with local traditions.

During the event, the Foundation’s delegation met with the Council of Chiefs and the Ezie Ogo, the traditional ruler of the Ohafia “A” community. Leading the entourage were Barr. Emelike Okorie, Esq., the Foundation’s legal adviser, and Chief Colins Agwu (Udu Mmini Ohafia), who addressed the gathering on behalf of E.C.K Foundation.

Chief Dr. Emeka Charles Kalu, President of E.C.K Foundation, stated, “Our mission is to empower communities by respecting and celebrating their unique heritage. We believe that true development starts from the grassroots, and we are here to listen, learn, and partner for lasting impact.”

In his remarks, Hon. Chief Agwu Iro emphasized the Foundation’s dedication to consolidating its relationship with the people of Amangwu Ohafia and celebrating their rich cultural heritage. He reaffirmed E.C.K Foundation’s commitment to supporting local initiatives.

The Ezie Ogo of Amangwu Ohafia expressed appreciation for the Foundation’s involvement, saying, “We welcome E.C.K Foundation’s partnership and value their respect for our traditions. Such collaborations strengthen our community and pave the way for meaningful progress.”

The event was marked with diverse cultural displays from the Amangwu community, including Ekpe (Masquerade), women in uniform who are next in line in community service, and other rich cultural presentations that showcased the vibrancy and unity of the people.
