David Mark speaks on imposition of candidates, anti-party activities in ADC

The interim national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC),
David Mark, says under his leadership the party will not put up with the imposition of candidates, anti-party activities, or any form of indiscipline.

Speaking during the party’s national executive committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja, Mark pledged to lead the ADC with integrity, transparency, courage, and vision.

The former senate president commended the immediate past national chairman of the party, Ralph Nwosu and his team for their role in building the party and for stepping down in the nation’s interest, while acknowledging their patriotism and sacrifices.

Hear him:
“I assure you that under my leadership, we shall be committed to full democratic practices and principles that abhor imposition and special privileges. Internal democracy, transparency, and accountability will be our mantra,” Mark said.

He promised collective leadership at all levels and vowed to establish a technically competent party bureaucracy with structured financing.

Mark said he is committed to revitalising grassroots leadership structures from polling units to the national level to reflect modern realities.

On inclusion, Mark emphasised meaningful participation of youths and women, rejecting tokenism.

“We have reserved 35 per cent of our leadership positions for women, and we are committed to having youths below 40 years in leadership roles,” he said.

Mark revealed that the new national working committee (NWC) would soon set up committees to review the party’s manifesto and constitution to better reflect the aspirations of Nigerians.

He reiterated the importance of clearly articulating the party’s ideology, progressive policies, and patriotic governance.

“We will not leave it to the discretion of individual candidates to choose what to do with power,” he affirmed.
