COVID-19: Gov. Umahi Stops Mortuary Services In Ebonyi,
Gives War Signal To Attendants.

In accordance with the measures to prevent spread of  Coronavirus in Ebonyi State, the Governor, Engr David Nweze Umahi has directed all Mortuary attendants in Ebonyi State to stop releasing dead  bodies to the family of deceaseds up until the deadly disease is brought to a transfix.

Speaking with Journalist at new Government House, Abakaliki, Governor Umahi said he had directed all land and water borders and indeed all entry and exit points to be shut down with effect from 12 midnight, March 28, adding that Mortuaries are not exemptions.

Meanwhile, the Governor directed the vice Chancellor of Alex Ekwueme University to monitor the mortury located in capital city and rural communities especially in Ikwo  local government to ensure outright compliance with government’s decisions, stressing that “automobiles, Burial or any  corpse whatsoever, shall be held within Ebonyi State up untill the battle against the disease is over and the Coronavirus is completely eradicated.”

Moreso, Governor Umahi called on security egencies especially Ebonyi  Commissioner of police, Mr. Owoshula Owotude to ensure that no burial will be conducted within the capital and local government Areas.

Governor Umahi, however, frowned at some of the local government chairmen who showed little or less concern to educate the people on the ways to avoid contacting the outbreak of the disease which has held so many nations captive.
