BREAKING! US President Biden Withdraws Re-elect Ambition
Four months prior to his re-election as the President of the United States of America (USA), President Joe Biden has announced that he will end his candidacy for re-election.
According to the incumbent President, his decision “is in the best interest of my party and the country”.
This is contained in a letter posted to his social media account, wherein he posited that it had been the greatest honour of his life to serve as president.
His decision was prompted by intense pressure from fellow Democrats after a halting debate performance against his Republican counterpart, former President Donald Trump at the end of June.
The statement read in part:
“And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling the duties as President for the remainder of my term”.
He said in his statement he would address the nation on the matter next week.
Meanwhile, he expressed gratitude to his Vice President Kamala Harris, describing her as an “extraordinary partner”.
