BREAKING NEWS: Popular Vet Doctor, Ogbu Murdered in Abuja, 3 Children Still Missing
The atmosphere of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria has been engulfed in utter disquiet, following the gruesome killing of a renowned veterinary doctor and former chairman of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), FCT chapter, Dr Ifeanyi Ogbu, has been killed by terrorists in Abuja.
The former chairman of Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association was was abducted alongside his three children from their home in Kubwa, Abuja.
According to reports, armed men reportedly invaded his residence in Kubwa, abducted him along with his three children, and later dumped his body by the roadside.
The tragic incident was confirmed by Ogbu’s friend, Andrew Gabriel Ikechukwu, who shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook.
Narrating Ogbu’s ordeal in his face postz Ikechukwu wrote:
“Dr. Ifeanyi Ogbu, the immediate past chairman of the NVMA FCT chapter, who was kidnapped alongside his three children from his home in Kubwa Abuja, has been found dead. The children are yet to be released. May God please intervene”.
Colleagues have since expressed shock and devastation, describing Ogbu as a compassionate and dedicated professional who contributed immensely to veterinary practice in Nigeria. The late doctor is survived by a wife, said to be nursing, and other grieving family members.
His gruesome murder occurred barely days after the murder of 29-year-old Arise TV anchor, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, who was brutally during a robbery at her Katampe residence — a crime that prompted President Bola Tinubu to order security agencies to intensify investigations.
Sommie, as she was fondly addressed as by her friends and colleagues, reportedly died from severe injuries which she allegedly sustained from jumping from a three storey-building, on Monday, September 29, 2025.
Regrettably, the seemingly incessant killing of innoce citizens of Nigeria has undoubtedly, thrown Abuja residents into mourning and raised fresh concerns over rising insecurity in the nation’s capital. A colleague of the deceased described the tragedy as “a great loss to the veterinary community and another painful reminder of how unsafe our cities have become.”
The late Ogbu, who is remembered by colleagues as a dedicated professional, is survived by his nursing wife and grieving family.
Meanwhile, as of press time, his children remain missing.
