Brave Journalist washed away by flood during live broadcast

A scary incident happened today in Pakistan, as a courageous Journalist was washed away by a deadly flood during a live broadcast.

Pakistan has been reeling under heavy rains, which reportedly has been wreaking havoc in the eastern region of the nation, killing as many as 54 people in the last 24 hours,

This was disclosed by an official of the country, on Thursday

This was seen in a heart-rending video that has gone viral across social media, as a Pakistani Journalist, was swept away by raging floodwaters while on a live broadcast near Chahan Dam in the nation’s Rawalpindi.

The eerie footage shows the curious reporter neck-deep in the fast moving waters, with his microphone still in hand, shortly before he was pulled by the gushing current.

While covering the extreme monsoon flooding in Kot Chatta during a live broadcast, a Pakistani television reporter for GTV was swept away by powerful flood currents.

The journalist is seen holding a microphone while standing in water up to his neck in the footage that Al Arabiya English shared on Facebook. The rushing current gets stronger and stronger as you report. Before he abruptly lost his balance and was dragged away by the flowing water, only his head and the hand holding the microphone were visible. But, in a few seconds, he was out of sight.

The incident occurred amid widespread flooding across Pakistan, caused by continuous torrential rains since June 26. According to official figures, the floods have claimed the lives of at least 116 people and left more than 250 injured. Punjab has seen the highest number of casualties at 44, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 37, Balochistan with 19, and Sindh with 18. Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) has reported one death and five injuries.

Social media users’ reactions to the live-streamed episode were divided, with some praising his bravery and others raising concerns about the safety dangers.

Since June 26, Pakistan has been experiencing intense monsoon rains that have led to deadly floods, displacing thousands and damaging homes, roads, and crops. Official reports show that a minimum of 116 lives have been lost and more than 250 injured.

However, to the amazement and joy of onlookers, the reporter was later confirmed to be safe, but the footage has reignited discussions on media safety and the increasing dangers posed by extreme weather conditions across South Asia.
