Boko Haram Overruns Military Camp in Adamawa, Sets Camp Ablaze, Kills Three Soldiers, Civilian Woman

“Suspected Boko Haram insurgents killed three soldiers and a civilian woman in a coordinated midnight attack on a military camp in Garaha, Adamawa State, looting weapons and burning down the base.”

Three soldiers and a civilian woman have been confirmed dead following a suspected Boko Haram reprisal attack on a military formation in Garaha district, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Residents said the insurgents launched the coordinated assault around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday, storming the community from multiple directions while firing sporadically before overrunning the military camp stationed in the area.

COORDINATED NIGHT ASSAULT

Survivors described the attack as “highly coordinated,” alleging that the terrorists caught security personnel off guard and quickly overwhelmed the base.
An eyewitness, Isaiah Yerima, recounted the chaos:

“The military men began to exchange gunshots in an effort to repel them, but unfortunately, the entire military camp was invaded and burnt down.”

He further disclosed:
“Those attackers ambushed the soldiers from the rear via the Lar axis, resulting in the deaths of three military personnel. A civilian woman was tragically killed by a stray bullet while attempting to flee the violence.”

According to residents, the insurgents razed several structures, including a primary school, and left widespread destruction in their wake.
“As I’m talking to you, no structure is left at the military base except the Living Faith Church. They lost everything, including food, clothing, and personal belongings,” Yerima added.

WEAPONS LOOTED, CAMP DESTROYED

Sources within the community said the attackers looted weapons from the military facility, including an armoured vehicle, before setting the base ablaze.

The chairman of Hong Local Government Area, Alhaji Usman Inuwa, confirmed the incident and called on both the federal and Adamawa State governments to strengthen security architecture in the region.

He urged authorities to adopt proactive strategies capable of ensuring “lasting peace and harmony” in communities affected by insurgency.

Growing Security Concerns in Adamawa
The attack has heightened concerns about renewed insurgent activities in parts of Adamawa, a state that has experienced repeated Boko Haram incursions over the years due to its proximity to Nigeria’s North-East conflict corridor.

Security agencies are yet to release an official casualty update at the time of filing this report.
