Baba’s Family Petitions IGP, Accuses Wife Natasha Osawaru of Assault, Bigamy, Drug Abuse
“2Baba’s family has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, accusing his wife, Edo lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, of assault, drugging, financial misconduct, and bigamy. The petition follows previous reports of the singer’s disappearance and escalating domestic disputes.”
The family of Nigerian music icon Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or Tuface, has petitioned the Nigeria Police Force, alleging that the singer is being assaulted, drugged, and financially exploited by his wife, Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly.
The couple has been at the centre of online controversy in recent days after a series of disturbing incidents, including a physical altercation during an Instagram Live session hosted by media personality Daddy Freeze.
The escalating situation prompted the Edo State House of Assembly to summon Osawaru before its Ethics and Privileges Committee. Despite public concern, 2Baba had urged fans to “stay calm,” insisting that he was fine.
However, in a petition dated 12 November, addressed to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, the Idibia family accused Osawaru of multiple offences including physical assault, unauthorised access to the musician’s accounts, bigamy, and substance abuse.
The petition stated:
“Alleged physical assault incidents in both the United Kingdom and Abuja by Miss Natasha Iroobosa Osawaru to Mr Innocent Idibia aka 2Baba. Alleged unauthorised access and transfer of funds from Mr Innocent Idibia’s phone and bank accounts by Miss Natasha Irobosa Osawaru.”
It further alleged:
“The seizure of personal property and travel documents, including his passport, preventing him from attending business engagements and performances… resulting in financial loss, reputational damage, emotional distress, and professional setbacks.”
The family also asked the police to investigate what they described as “information suggesting a possible violation of marriage laws (bigamy) and fraudulent misrepresentation.”
According to the petition, 2Baba’s safety and mental well-being appear to be “at serious risk.”
This is not the first time the family has raised alarm over the singer’s relationship with the Edo lawmaker. In February, they filed a petition with the State Security Service (SSS), declaring him missing.
They said that at the time, neither his record label, staff, nor close associates had been able to reach him, raising fears of a possible abduction. The family also revealed that unknown individuals had allegedly used his social media accounts to solicit money from his contacts during the period of his disappearance.
The unfolding controversy continues to trigger public concern as calls intensify for a full investigation.
