APC Congress Shake-Up: Abia Chapter Hails Yilwatda, Nwankpa, Ogbonnaya After Landmark Victories

“In a defining moment that signals a new power shift within Nigeria’s ruling party, the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has erupted in celebration following the emergence of key party figures at the just-concluded national and zonal congresses—describing the outcome as a “renewed mandate for unity, strength, and progressive leadership.”

“The Abia State APC has congratulated Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda on becoming National Chairman, alongside Chief Donatus Nwankpa and Barr. Chimankpam Ogbonnaya, describing their emergence as a sign of unity, leadership strength, and renewed grassroots mobilisation within the party.”

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda on his emergence as the National Chairman of the party, describing his victory as “well-deserved” and a strong endorsement of his leadership capacity, vision, and commitment to the party’s ideals.

In a statement issued by the State Publicity Secretary, Uche Aguoru, the party also felicitated Chief Donatus Nwankpa on his re-election as National Welfare Officer, alongside other members of the National Working Committee who emerged at the recently concluded National Congress.

According to the statement, “their emergence underscores the party’s dedication to continuity, experience, and effective leadership at the national level.”

The Abia APC further commended Barr. Chimankpam Ogbonnaya on his emergence as Zonal Youth Leader, alongside other zonal officers elected during the Zonal Congress held in Enugu State.

The party noted that their victories represent “a renewed mandate to strengthen party structures, mobilise grassroots support, and advance the collective interests of the APC across the zone.”

Applauding the Congress Organising Committee, the party described the conduct of both the national and zonal congresses as “transparent, peaceful, and credible,” adding that the process reinforces internal democracy within the APC.

The statement also expressed deep appreciation to the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, for his “unwavering support, strategic leadership, and personal sacrifices,” which contributed to what it described as a successful outing for the Abia chapter.

The party further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his “purposeful leadership and continued commitment to strengthening the APC and deepening democratic values across the country.”

The Abia APC called on all members and stakeholders to remain united and focused, stressing the need to consolidate on the gains recorded and work collectively towards building “a stronger, more inclusive, and victorious APC.”
