Anambra… Gov. Soludo

Pained by the gruesome killing of a pregnant Northern woman alongside her four children, the Sarkin Hausawa of Orunba North LGA in Anambra State, Alhaji Sa’id Muhammad, has announced that Northerners in the state have finally decided to vacate the state.

According to Sa’id, their decision is consequent on the constant killing of their relatives by alleged members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the armed wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Reportedly, a certain pregnant woman and her children alongside six others who were believed to be Northerners were murdered on May 22, 2022, at Isulo, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.

Muhammad said the killing of the pregnant woman together with her four children by gunmen was not new to them as many of his people were killed in such a callous manner.

The Northern leader amidst grief recounted that the woman, Mrs. Fatima was a native of Adamawa State, who prior to her death, had lived in Orumba South, but was sent to her early grave last Sunday, as she visited her friends with her four children.

Hear him: “It was on her way back home in Orumba South that she was killed. She was being conveyed by a commercial motorcyclist when they were ambushed by the gunmen. They murdered her and her four children but the motorcyclist escaped,” he said.

In a gory video trending on Twitter, the victims were seen lying in the pool of their blood with bullets spread around and a narrator speaking in Igbo saying, “Everybody should look at this video that they have shot a woman and her four children. They are from the North. And they are shooting everybody they see on the street; so people should be careful.”

On that same Sunday, five commercial motorcycle riders were also killed and their bikes burnt at Onocha LGA. The bodies of four of the deceased were deposited in the morgue while the fifth one was burnt to ashes.

Mohammed said another man, Abdullahi, who was selling roasted meat by the roadside at Nnanka, was also killed at his suya spot.

“His body was by the roadside since Sunday evening until in the afternoon on Monday when I called the police DPO and informed him about it and requested him to help us recover the remains.

“He told me that he cannot send his men there because of the sit-at-home order. We are now planning to leave for North as we can no longer stay here…They are killing us on daily basis,” he said.

He said his younger brother, Aliyu, was also killed two months ago in a similar manner.

Similarly, reports have it that some trucks conveying goods to the South were also set ablaze in Anambra at the weekend and the drivers and other occupants were killed, injured or disappeared without a trace. Some truck drivers of northern extraction said that they are now operating with fear in the South East region.

Adamu Shu’aibu, who works with a private company in the region said that the rate at which the militants were attacking and killing drivers was alarming.

“I lost many of my colleagues to the nefarious activities of the terrorists and the killings are not being reported. Many of our colleagues have abandoned the driving job. The gunmen mostly attack drivers on some routes that have few or no security personnel.”

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, could not confirm the incidents, saying the details were sketchy.

He said the command would talk about the incidents when they receive a clear picture of what transpired.

However, a senior police officer who did not want to be named confirmed the Isulo attack.

IPOB ARE COWARDS- CAN

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna state has in totality, frowned at the killing of Fatima, a heavily pregnant woman with her four children massacred in cold blood by IPOP terrorists in Anambra State.

“This unfortunate act is getting out of hand. IPOB members are murderers, cowards and subhumans who oppress the innocent and kills children. FG should treat them same way as Boko Haram,” said CAN.

Rev Joseph John Hayab, Chairman of CAN in Kaduna state, said in a statement that as for Fatima, her children and six others that were unjustly killed, may God forgive their shortcomings, grant their innocent souls rest and grant their families strength to bear their loss.

“The expansion of evil versus the silence of godly people in Nigeria. We have read the story of the Killing of Fatima, her unborn child, and four children in Anambra with sadness and disappointment about how evil activities have expanded in our country while good people are divided and silent.”

‘Life in our country has become so cheap with the raising of many evil criminal groups in every part of the country.

Killings of human beings are no longer a serious matter because the people have been divided by tribe, region, and religion which has made it impossible for us to collectively condemn the evil around us or fight the evil we are seeing as a united force.”

“CAN see the massacre of Fatima, her unborn child, and four children by criminals and terrorists in Anambra as bad for Nigeria’s peace and unity.

CAN Can not keep quiet when evil is destroying the land. We all must know that when there is an injury to one then that injury is to all and evil only triumph when good people keep quiet and look the other way.”

“CAN therefore is urging the federal government to go after Fatima murderers and all others who have killed any Nigeria from any region or of any identity.

Until our Government and our law enforcement agencies go after all criminals and murderers and justice is seen to have been done on all murderers this evil will not stop and the murderers will not see their crime as evil but instead, they will smartly make us fight amongst ourselves and pay less attention to their crime.”

“CAN Kaduna state commiserates with Fatima’s family and pray to God for comfort. CAN will also continue to preach peace, pray for peace, and speak truth to power and against every wrongdoing in Kaduna state and Nigeria as a whole. Because we believe that an injury to one is an injury to all. May God deliver Nigeria from bloodthirsty criminals,” said CAN.

NO NORTHERNERS NOR MUSLIM WOMAN WAS KILLED IN ANAMBRA
– Governor Soludo

However, reacting to the ugly scenario, the Anambra State Government has debunked the report on a religious killing in the state.

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Chukwuma Soludo, Christan Aburime, in a statement on Tuesday, said “the statement had become necessary to set the record straight about a misleading publication on the front page ofDaily TrustNewspaper of Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

The headline of front page report reads: “IPOB KILLS WOMAN, 4 KIDS, 6 OTHER NORTHERNERS IN ANAMBRA’, with several riders.

Aburime said, “While it is true that there is general insecurity across the country, there is no targeted religious or ethnic killings in Anambra State. As a matter of fact, Anambra indigenes have suffered more casualties as a result of the unfortunate killings.

“The insensitive slant of theDaily Trustreport have the tendency to stir anger and disaffection in other parts of the country.

“The report, therefore, is totally unacceptable and inimical to the unity and progress of the nation.

“Government of Anambra State hereby states that the report is not only sensational but misleading and should be immediately retracted to reflect the real situation on ground.

“It is on record that Ndi Anambra and people of the North and other parts of the country who live and do business in the state, not only share common values, but have always lived at peace with each other in the state.

“Governor Soludo’s administration has not only demonstrated commitment in tackling insecurity but has continuously reassured both indigenes and non-indigenes in the State of their protection and safety.”
