AIG Adegoke Fayoade of Zone 2 Police Command has ordered the creation of a Task Force to reduce excessive checkpoints and curb extortion along the Idi-Iroko, Imeko, and Aiyetoro routes in Ogun State.
The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Zone 2 Command, AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade, mni, psc, has convened a strategic meeting with operational commanders in charge of the Idi-Iroko, Imeko, and Aiyetoro areas to address mounting concerns over the excessive number of checkpoints mounted by various security agencies along these routes.

According to the AIG, the meeting was aimed at streamlining and rationalizing checkpoint operations to enhance security efficiency while curbing acts of extortion and undue harassment of motorists and residents.
Describing the current situation as “embarrassing and unacceptable,” AIG Fayoade emphasized the need for all security operatives to uphold professionalism, integrity, and transparency in their engagements with the public.
He further called for enhanced synergy and collaboration among security agencies and community stakeholders within the affected areas to foster mutual trust and improve intelligence-driven policing.
In his directive, AIG Fayoade ordered senior officers to sensitize their subordinates on maintaining discipline, professionalism, and courtesy while carrying out their statutory duties.
To ensure strict compliance, the AIG also announced the immediate establishment of a Task Force to supervise, monitor, and regulate checkpoint activities. This Task Force, he said, will ensure that officers on duty adhere strictly to approved operational standards and ethical conduct.
