Abia Will Be Great Again Under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda – Ex-Minister Ikoh
By Charity Uwakwe
“Former Minister Henry Ikoh says Abia State will witness renewed development under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda as APC intensifies grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.”
Former Minister of State for Science and Technology, Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, has expressed strong optimism that Abia State will experience renewed growth and development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, assuring that the initiative will reposition the state and its local governments for effective governance.

Ikoh, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated this today, Thursday, January 8, 2025, shortly after a strategic meeting with coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors from the Old Aba Zone, held at his country home in Ahuwa Oboro, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State.
According to him, the meeting was convened to interface with coordinators from the nine local government areas that make up the Old Aba Division and to encourage them to carry out their responsibilities with commitment and diligence.
Ikoh noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated strong commitment to grassroots governance, particularly through the provision of adequate funding to states and local governments. He added that the President has consistently advised governors across the country to allow local governments to operate independently and efficiently.

He stressed the importance of accountability at the grassroots level, warning that public funds must be judiciously managed.
“Any funds received must be properly accounted for. If not today, they will certainly be accounted for tomorrow,” Ikoh said.
Speaking further, the former Minister declared:
“Abia will be great again through the Renewed Hope Ambassadors. Mr. President is committed to providing the necessary funds to make both the state and local governments work. He has also advised governors to allow local governments to function effectively. Local governments must understand that whatever money they receive from the Federal Government must be accounted for—if not today, then tomorrow.”

President Tinubu’s Efforts on Insecurity
Ikoh also reiterated President Tinubu’s determination to tackle insecurity across the country, describing the administration’s approach as firm and proactive.
“You will agree with me that Mr. President is doing everything possible to check insecurity in the country. There was a recent attack in Sokoto, but the rest is history. Moving forward, security will be significantly enhanced,” he stated.
Grassroots Mobilisation Ahead of 2027
Earlier in his address, Ikoh charged grassroots coordinators not to relent in taking President Tinubu’s message to the doorsteps of Abians, reminding them that their performance would be closely assessed.
“I have always reminded them that they are on probation. They must go to the grassroots, preach the message of Mr. President, ensure things are done properly, and show respect for constituted authority,” he said.
He added:
“Our task is to drive Mr. President’s programmes down to the ward level. The goal is to let the people know what the President is doing in their local governments and in Abia State. Nigerians must understand that this President means well for them and that Nigeria will be great again. This is one nation—Abia, God’s own state—where God will take preeminence.”
APC Intensifies 2027 Strategy
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Famousreporters.com, Prince Paul Ikonne, a co-founding member and key stakeholder of the APC and a member of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, disclosed that party leaders were intensifying mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ikonne explained that the meeting, hosted at the residence of the Abia State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, brought together local government and zonal coordinators from the Old Aba Zone.
According to him, the gathering focused on strategy sessions aimed at ensuring the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
Vote of Thanks
In his vote of thanks, former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chris Enweremmadu, expressed gratitude to the former Minister for the warm reception accorded to the delegation.
He described the reception as a positive signal for the success of their collective mission.
“The way you welcomed us shows that we will go far with this agenda,” Enweremmadu said.
He expressed confidence that God would grant Ikoh the wisdom to provide effective leadership that would drive the group’s objectives ahead of 2027.
“I believe God will give you the wisdom to steer this ship to a point where we will all be celebrating, with each of us doing what is required to ensure the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 2027,” he stated.
Enweremmadu further assured that members across the various local government areas were fully committed to the task ahead and appealed to the former Minister to leverage his access to key decision-makers in advancing their cause.
