Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has reminded members of State House of Assembly and the National Assembly in the State of the plagues that have bedevilled the
State, saying that there is so much responsibilities on their shoulders.

Otti who disclosed that his full cabinet would be constituted by the end of the month June, 2023, “for greater services to Abians”, regretted that his administration inherited over two hundred billion naira (N200b) debt from the immediate past government of PDP under Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

The Governor stated this at the special thanksgiving service reception of the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Chief Obi Aguocha, held at Nkwoegwu Central School, Ohuhu Umuahia North LGA, disclosed that his full cabinet would be constituted by the end of the month June, 2023, “for greater services to Abians.

The State chief executive pointed out that setting up the cabinet would enable the government run properly, adding that the recent inauguration of the State House of Assembly would give impetus to effective running of the government.

Governor Otti explained that the delay in payment of salaries and arrears of pensions, promised earlier is as a result of fititious figures and numbers that cannot be confirmed and assured that at the end of this month, salaries and arrears of pensions shall be paid and pleaded with the people to be patient.

“From the end of this month, we will deal with salaries arrears.
What is holding us is that we found out that there are fictitious figures of names in the payroll, we are making sure that the genuine workers are paid” he assured.

He lamented that his administration inherited over two hundred billion naira (N200b) debt from the immediate past government of PDP under Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, but, however, vowed to offset same , while assuring that he would not spend time responding to distractions and would not give excuses.

“We know that there must be distractions but we’ll not allow them distract us.”

The renowned First Class Economist who likened Umuahia, the state capital to a glorified village, announced that in the next three months, his administration would begin the process of revamping the city in order to enhance it’s beauty, while also soliciting support from all and sundry.

He congratulated Sir Obi Aguocha on his inauguration as member of the National Assembly and stressed the need for all to show gratitude to God at all times.

Earlier in his speech, Rt. Hon. Aguocha expressed profound gratitude to God Almighty for granting him a resounding victory which ushered him into the Green Chamber, as he also reaffirmed that his victory was for the restoration of the dignity of the ohuhu and the rest of Ikwuano/Umuahia people.

“It’s a thing of Thanksgiving to God. At first it looked impossible because there were powers and principalities especially in Umuahia but God did it His own way. That is why you have standing before you this day, the man whom the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia have chosen to lead them.

He thanked the Governor and members of the labor party for coming to identify with him and described his victory in the 2023 general elections as a manifestation of God’s supremacy over all things, assuring the people of Ikwuano/Umuahia of effective and quality representation.

“If Dr. Otti had not given me the party’s ticket, the people of Ohuhu, Ikwuano and Umuahia would not have been liberated today. So, your Excellency, I am eternally grateful to you”, he pledged.

Meanwhile, among the dignitaries present at the event were: The member resenting Isialangwa North and south federal constituency Mr Ginger Onwusibe, the speaker Abia House of Assembly Chief Emmanuel Emeruwa,other members of the House, the state Chairman of Labor party, Ceekay Igara,SSG Professor Kenneth Kalu,

Others were; Chief of staff to the Governor, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, Comrd. Ossy Nwaka, the President and Founder of New Era Foundation, Ikwuano, Dr. Ifeanyi Uke, and some other stakeholders of Ohuhu extraction including Chief Onyema Ugochukwu,Chuef Empire Kanu,Chief Uzodinma Okpara among others were present at the event.
