Abia state government has assured Abians and the general public that the new edifice erected by the Ridge Club in the state will facilitate night life in the area.
The Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu gave this assurance at the 2020 Induction of New members and Commissioning of the new Club House at Ridge Club, in Umuahia, Abia State, reiterating that his administration is working towards making the state safe and secured to enhance night life.
The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the state Government, SSG, Barr. Chris Ezem congratulated the 82 newly inducted members of the club, while enjoining them to stick to the rules and regulations of the club and promised government’s intervention in their major areas of challenge such as electricity, fencing, provision of utility bus, etc.
The SSG charged the inductees to make themselves relevant, adding “and let your induction have effect on this club”, he said, as the entire club members to ensure they impact on the state, reminding them of the Governor’s special, strong affinity for the club.
Hear him: “I want to congratulate youyou should contnually make your presence felt in Abia. We want to feel your impacts on empowerment of the youths, etc. You have done much but you must do more by supporting the activities of government, he said, as he charged the inductees to make themselves relevant, adding “and let your induction have effect on this club”.
Speaking earlier, Sir Uchenna Dike, the Chairman of Ridge Club, congratulated the Governor on his resounding victory and assured him of the club’s unalloyed loyalty and support.
Sir Uchenna expressed gratitude to the Governor for his unreserved love for the club, noting that “he’s the only Governor since I became Chairman that has visited this club for three times”, he explained, as he implored him to extend more of his benevolence to the club.
Addressing Journalists, Elder Chief Mrs. Love Ezema, the Acting Publicity Secretary, Abia state PDP, who was among the inductees expression candid elation at the ceremony, describing it as a dream come true.
She said: “it’s a Club I have longed to belong to because of its sports activities. All works without play makes a jack a dull boy. So, after all the stress of work, it’s important that you unwind with one sport or the other”.
