Abia Gov’t insists on Compulsory COVID-19 Test for LG chairmen, deputies to go for test … As Ikpeazu tests negative, two aides positive

Following the death of the former Commissioner for Environment of Abia state, Hon  Solomon Ogunji, Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu has directed all the LG chairmen and their deputies to submit themselves to compulsory COVID-19 test, after testing negative for same.

The governor announced that the result of  his blood sample collected on Saturday was out, and that it tested negative.

Ikpeazu in a press statement he personally signed, on Tuesday, however regretted that two of his aides tested positive to the pandemic.

The governor who has been on self isolation since weekend also directed his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu,  and all members of the State Executive Council to also submit themselves for compulsory test.

However, the identities of his aides who tested positive to the dreaded disease still remain undisclosed.

Commissioner for Information, Chief John Okiyi Kalu who has also been on self isolation had earlier posted on his facebook page that his own  result also  returned negative, hinting that he would soon resume duties.

He also directed the state epidiomologist to commence mass random test  of residents of the state as part of the measures to contain the spread of the dreaded pandemic.
