Abia APC Challenges Otti Over Tinubu Support, Demands Clear 2027 Position

“As political alliances shift ahead of 2027, Abia APC is demanding one answer from Governor Alex Otti: where exactly does he stand?”

“Abia APC has challenged Governor Alex Otti to publicly declare his position on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, accusing him of benefiting from federal projects while avoiding open recognition of the Tinubu administration. The party says it remains committed to delivering Abia State for the APC in 2027.”

“The political battle ahead of the 2027 general elections is already gathering momentum as the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has questioned Governor Alex Otti’s political position on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, accusing him of maintaining “double standards” while benefiting from federal government interventions.
The party’s latest comments followed Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s public declaration of support for President Tinubu, which the Abia APC described as a demonstration of political courage and consistency.”

Soludo, recently joined other Southeast governors in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, where he openly expressed support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to the Abia APC, regardless of political differences, Soludo’s decision reflects a willingness to clearly communicate his political position.

The party, in a press release signed by Uche Aguoru, the publicity secretary, noted that Soludo has consistently maintained his stance and has not been perceived as presenting different positions to different audiences.

However, the APC in Abia State argued that the same cannot be said of Governor Alex Otti.
In a statement signed by Uche Aguoru, Publicity Secretary of the APC in Abia State, the party claimed that Governor Otti’s relationship with the Labour Party and the “Obidient Movement” has created questions about his true political alignment ahead of 2027.

The party alleged that while the governor continues to enjoy support from groups opposed to President Tinubu, he also attempts to maintain a working relationship with the APC-led Federal Government without openly acknowledging the President’s leadership or declaring support for his re-election.

The APC argued that political loyalty and support should be expressed openly, especially as the country approaches another election cycle.

Renewed Hope Tour Controversy
The party also referenced the visit of the Renewed Hope National Media Tour to Abia State, which focused on assessing federal projects implemented under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The APC stated that governors in some states personally receive similar delegations and highlight federal interventions benefiting their people.

However, the party criticized Governor Otti for delegating representatives instead of personally receiving the team.

According to the APC, the decision created the impression that the governor was avoiding direct association with federal government achievements in the state.

The party further alleged that some Labour Party officials, aides, supporters, and associates of the governor have frequently criticized President Tinubu’s administration and policies, questioning how such a political environment could translate into genuine support for the President’s 2027 ambition.

APC Calls For Transparency
The Abia APC maintained that Governor Otti should publicly state whether he supports President Tinubu’s re-election project if he truly believes in the administration’s achievements.

The party urged the governor to openly acknowledge federal government interventions in Abia and communicate his position clearly to the people.

The APC said it remains focused on strengthening its grassroots structures and preparing for the 2027 elections.

The party expressed confidence in its political machinery, membership strength, grassroots network, and ability to compete across all elective positions in the state.

“Enough Of Political Ambiguity” — APC
The party insisted that Abians deserve clarity about where their leaders stand politically.

The APC stated that it would continue educating residents about what it described as the Tinubu administration’s contributions to Abia State, including infrastructure projects, federal appointments, and other development initiatives.

It concluded by declaring its determination to contest strongly in 2027, including winning the three senatorial seats, eight House of Representatives seats, 24 State Assembly seats, and the Abia State Government House.

The APC’s position has, however, added another layer to the growing political conversations surrounding alliances and strategies ahead of the 2027 elections.
