The St Mathew’s Catholic Church, Ugwuachara, Ebonyi LGA of Ebonyi yesterday, witnessed an uproar as a young couple, Engr. and Mrs Solomon Ogbonna Ukpai from Agba Community in Ishielu LGA was mercilessly mangled and roughhoused right inside the church premises by the church wardens popularly known as M.O.D (Men of Order and Discipline) for alleged wrong parking.
Reportedly, the heavily pregnant wife lost consciousness at the spot following the beating and concomitant tear gassing.
FamousReporters was reliably unformed by our source that when HURIDE and HRCRC visited the crime scene at exactly 12:50pm, the officiating priest, Fr Abraham Nwali who was reportedly present while the incident happened, had already gone and efforts to reach him and the catechist, Mr Augustine Ucha yielded no fruit. Investigation continues tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the abused newly weded couple was rushed to the hospital for resuscitation. The wife was taken to Alex Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital while the husband was rushed to Trinity Hospital Abakaliki.(See Images attached).
Therefore, HURIDE and HRCRC is prevailing on the the Catholic Priest of St Mathew’s Catholic church Ugwuachara, Fr Abraham Nwali to promptly investigate this barbaric act of his M.O.D recruits and we won’t stop at anything in ensuring justice is properly served for Engr Ukpai and wife.
