Obsessed’ Teacher Exchanged 25,000 Texts With Teen Student, Gets 12 Years for Sexual Abuse

A former special-education teacher who prosecutors said carried out a months-long campaign to sexually abuse a teenage student has been sentenced to 12 years in prison. In court, the judge delivered a stark message to the former teacher: “You are his trauma. You ruined him.”

Allison Havemann-Niedrach, a former special-education teacher in New Jersey, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree aggravated sexual assault involving a teenage student. She must serve at least 85% of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole, surrender her teaching licence and register as a sex offender.

Allison Havemann-Niedrach received the sentence on August 28 after pleading guilty to first-degree aggravated sexual assault.

According to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, she must serve at least 85% of her sentence before she can be considered for parole.

She has also been permanently barred from holding public office. In addition, she was ordered to surrender her teaching licence and register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law.

Havemann-Niedrach appeared emotional during the sentencing. She bowed her head and wiped away tears as the punishment was handed down in a New Jersey courtroom.
The case involved a teenage student whom the former teacher had become obsessed with.

At the sentencing, Judge Jill G. O’Malley rejected the suggestion that the abuse resulted from a so-called trauma bond between Havemann-Niedrach and the victim.

Instead, the judge said the abuse was deliberate and continued for months.

“The sexual abuse was not as she suggests, a trauma bond between her and the victim,” O’Malley said.

The judge further described the abuse as “the result of months, a result of a protracted campaign to seduce and abuse a little boy for her own satisfaction.”

O’Malley then delivered an emotional warning to the former teacher.

“You are his trauma. You ruined him.”
Havemann-Niedrach had pleaded guilty to the charge in January. She will now serve her prison sentence under the terms imposed by the court.

The case has drawn attention to the abuse of trust that can occur when an adult in a position of authority exploits a vulnerable student.
