Umahi Shuts Down Schools, Night Clubs, Others
…Orders Transporters To Provide Nose Masks For Passengers

Following the pandemonium instilled by the speedy rise in the menace of COVID-19 in the nation, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state has ordered that all public activities be closed down in order to keep at bay the outbreak of the virus in the state.

Governor Umahi who is currently the coordinator of the Medical Team in the state, has painstakingly sensitised Ebonyians on how to efficiently  wage war against the menace of  deadly Lassa fever and COVID-19 .

Briefing Journalists in the state on the present condition, Governor Umahi noted that before the first record of Covid 19 in Nigeria, Ebonyi government had earlier built two Quarantine Centres in Abakaliki town, as well as border areas especially Abakaliki /Enugu borders located at Ishielu local government Area, while insisting that activities to discontinue in schools, Night club and all manner of social gatherings.

Umahi stressed that government would implement law against gathering of more than 50 persons and other essential service centres such as market, Ricemills, Religious Centres, Banks, Hotel among others, adding that the security personnel shall monitor all essential the aforementioned areas to ensure uninterrupted adherence to the instructions.
 
Furthermore, Umahi led government said because “it’s important to stop Covid-19 from entering the state , Government has ordered all retirees on health to recall at state and local government area alongside the state Medical Team deployed in local government areas from rural communities to protect the people contacting this deadly disease.”

In continuation, Governor Umahi also mandated that all parks and public transport services should provide noise mask for their passengers and must distance their passengers to creat space, stressing that tricycle operators must not carry more than two passengers why motorcycle only one passenger.

He maintain that all  passengers from Lagos , Edo, Abuja and Southwest must be recorded and submitted to the ministry of health on daily basis.


“Any one coming from outside the country must undergo self isolation for 14 days”.
