Mayor Ossy Nwaka: Ikwuano Council And Her Yesterday’s Road

I feel that, in the short space of six months, Mayor Osinachi Hycinth Nwaka has been able to impact the lives of Ikwuano. It’s not gainsaying that Nwaka’s administration met Ikwuano Local Government Council in a dungeon and just like an animal farm, the entire place was like an abandoned thatched house. Apparently, there was no life there let alone any functional basic infrastructure. This atmosphere undoubtedly, had left the people particularly staff of the Council in a deep state of despondency.

However, with the emergence of Nwaka, this protracted, piteous story of the local government, within a blink of the eye, was rewritten through God’s grace and with the help of Dr. Alex Otti the Executive Governor of Abia State.

Upon arrival, Ossy Nwaka and his team swung into action and were able to revamp the local government by sinking boreholes that are currently functional.

Also, Nwaka’s led administration bought a brand new 300kV transformer, a 30KV generator set, they repainted the Council’s buildings, corrected the electricity challenge and restored power to the Council.

A recent visit to the if council, shows that the formerly dilapidated stadium has been fixed for the youths of the Council. This structure also serves as an event centre; the former customary court has been fixed, and has been converted to an ICT Centre; similarly, the abandoned Agric department that had, over the years, been moribund prompted staff of that department to loiter aimlessly in the council during work hours has been fixed and currently in use.

Today, the previous pathetic story of Ikwuano has been thrown into the garbage. Ikwuano now has a facelift. And as such, the youths of the Council can now boldly identify themselves as indigenes.
Just like the popular Abiriba community, Ikwuano headquarters can now be likened to a small London. And like a European quarter, Ikwuano now has very attractive work-ways and roadmaps, beautified with aesthetic appeal. The local government council is now a beauty to behold. Go verify!

The one million pounds question that reverberates on my mind whenever I put in an appearance at the Council is: “what were the former transition Chairmen doing? Evidently, they were playing jamboree.

What this present administration of ossy Nwaka has done so far, barely one year after assumption is a true definition of taking dividends of democracy to the doorstep of Ikwuano.

I read from a certain free wordpress blog where various vituperative words were rained on the person of the Mayor. And, of course, it’s forbidden to pen down the ridiculous name of the unregistered blog as that will grant the owner his long sought relevance.

And if you go through that article, you will be able to deduce that it was fabricated by a faceless being otherwise why would any sane man decide to hastily create a free blog just to level such heinous allegations against a political office holder? A downright show of incompetence and desperation. Well, I haven’t come to reply to the half-baked information.

No doubt, there are some mischievous people who want to confiscate funds allocated to the local government; some political profiteers who have vowed to sink Ikwuano in an abject penury.
There is a relatively peaceful atmosphere in Ikwuano Local Government Area.

Nwaka’s blunt refusal to succumb to the demands of those overzealous politicians to share funds meant for the development of the Council, is the only bone of contention, if there is any. And I ask; who instituted this law in Ikwuano politics that money meant for the development of the local government area must be shared among so-called leaders? This is the same charm that has kept Ikwuano backwards when placed side-by-side with her sister-communities.
And I am compelled to state unapologetically that now it is glaringly obvious that Ikwuano is a slave to herself.

To the best of my knowledge, there is no fracas nor commotion in Ikwuano both as a local government or a Council. Mayor Ossy Nwaka has maintained a cordial relationship with his Executives and has as tradition demands, held meetings intermittently every month with the various ward chairmen.

He has always been seen and heard encouraging them to work for the party, and is obviously in love with them as well as the stakeholders.

Another issue that is perceived to be raising dust among members is the selfish ambition of a selected few members who are seeking to set up a fresh stakeholders forum despite the already established ones. How would you want to marry a new wife and discard the old wife who stood by you during the rains? That’s the height of callousness!! The dog can never have a kola nut; it’s unheard-of neither can the basket be used to hold water! It’s an abomination!

From my in-depth investigations, Nwaka’s offense unwillingness to incline to this inhuman act has brought about unwarranted hatred upon him. But, does it really matter? Unfortunately, Nwaka’s clarion call for a collaboration of the new stakeholders with the existing ones is another bone of contention.
You don’t drive away the real people who strove for the success of the party during the elections which incidentally brought the Labour Party (LP) government of Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR into power just in your selfish quest to plant your own people. This move is suspicious. And I beg the government to look keenly into this matter and methodically remove the fingers of the monkey from the soup before it automatically turns to human fingers”.

Investigations further revealed that those political profiteers meant no well for both the party and the council in general.
Nwaka’s only crime is his insistence on synergizing both the old and the new stakeholders. “There must be a synergy between the old and the new ones”, he insisted. However, in the absence of those barriers, there is peace and tranquility in Ikwuano Local Government Area and the party; the place is outrightly devoid of any iota of disunity or dispute.

Indeed, the recently celebrated ‘Last Happy Hour’ of Abia Central Appointees and the Governor, Dr Alex otti in Ikwuano was superfluously scintillating!! it was a grand style ceremony that was held in Ikwuano last week Friday and everybody. It was really fun and eventful!
