Col. Barr. Paul Omeruo (Rtd.) Former Military Administrator, Kogi State has charged the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District, Col. Austin Akobundu (Rtd) to endeavour to eschew partisanship but work assiduously towards assuaging the condition of his constituents.

Omeruo gave this charge in a statement he signed and made available to the Media today, Sunday, stressing that the people of Abia Central particularly Ikwuano LGA, have for decades, existed with little or no government’s presence, but expressed confidence in the envisioned ‘light at the end of the tunnel.’

He, therefore, implored the former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to strive to work towards saving the entire Ikwuano community in particular from her age long intense subjugation and marginalisation.

The statement read in part:

“Your emergence as the Senator representing Abia Central in the Red Chambers has indeed added a feather to Ikwuano politically. So, we look forward to having notable facelifts in Ikwuano and the entire Abia Central.”

While charging the Senator to ensure he thwarts the castigations from his critics, who during the electioneering periods, had passed votes of no confidence in him (Col. Akobundu), “he should work assiduously towards improving the standard of living of the people, with focus on developmental strides.”

Furthermore, he enjoined Akobundu to uphold national and State interests above his personal interest whatsoever, while also advising him to stick to virtues that will sustain democracy and advance the course of good governance, peace, and sustainable development especially in Ikwuano.

“Ikwuano as we all know is known for efficiency in large agricultural produce, but has, over the years been crippled by dilapidated road network. I, therefore, urge you to make your stay in the Upper Chambers memorable, thus rewriting the errors of the past.

“Once again, congratulations, Senator Austin Akobundu”, he concluded
