Rep. Onuigbo Congratulates Senator Akobundu. Says He Embodies the Ikwuano Spirit

Member representing the South East on the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission, and the All Progressives Congress’ Senatorial candidate for Abia Central Senatorial district in the 2023 general elections, Rep. Sam onuigbo has congratulated Senator Austin Akobundu on his victory at the Appeal Court and subsequent swearing in as the Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial district.

Onuigbo made this known in a statement released on Wednesday, November 14, 2023, in Abuja.

The former national lawmaker who recognised the essential position of the judiciary as the final arbiter during conflicts, said Colonel Akobundu’s victory is testament to the fact that the judiciary remains the common man’s last resort to peaceful arbitration.

Speaking on the character of Colonel Akobundu, Rep. Onuigbo said that Colonel Akobundu’s determination to contest the outcome of the 2023 Senatorial election in Abia Central in court highlights his commitment to deepening Nigeria’s democratic process and serves as testament to the enduring and collective spirit of nde Ikwuano. 

He charged the Senator to leverage on the benevolence of the legal system to make his time in the Red Chambers count for the good of the people of Abia Central in particular and Nigerians in general.

Recall that the Appeal Court sitting in Lagos had on November 4, 2023, sacked Darlington Nwokocha of the Labour Party as the Senator for Abia Central and declared Colonel Austin Akobundu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the rightful winner.
