The Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, (COSEYL) has landed the Inspector General of Police, IGP Adamu Muhammed for their creditable acts, describing the recent call for his removal as being callous.

In a release signed by Chief Goodluck Egwu Ibem and Comrade Kanice Igwe
President- General and Secretary- General, respectively, the group decried the call by some Nigerians, urging President Muhammadu Buhari to remove the Inspector General of Police, IGP Adamu Muhammed and other service Chiefs to end insecurity in the country.

The group described the statement as one borne out of out of ignorance of the existing security position, as it urged those, who according to the realease are casting aspersions and vituperation on the IGP and other service chiefs to rather commend them for their selfless and tireless efforts in combating crime in the country.

The group enjoined the aggrieved persons to collaborate with the Inspector General of Police and other service chiefs by president Muhammadu Buhari in their to fight to end glaring problem facing the country.

The release reads in part:

“A recent call by some Nigerians urging President Muhammadu Buhari to remove the Inspector General of Police, IGP Adamu Muhammed and other service chiefs as the only way to end insecurity in the country is totally baseless and reckless”.

“Rather than call on the removal of the Inspector General of Police and other service chiefs by president Muhammadu Buhari, we should all join hands with them to fight this cankerworm that is staring us in the face”.

“The duty of security in Nigeria is not the responsibility of only the police or security agencies alone but rather it is the duty of all Nigerians to fight insecurity in order to make our environment serve”.

“If the Inspector General of Police, IGP, and other service chiefs have performed so badly as it’s been said by some persons, we would have been the ones to lead the call for their removal”.

“We would not have sat down in our homes to demand for their removal by President Muhammadu Buhari, we would mobilize over 2 million Nigerians on a protest match demanding for their immediate removal by Mr. President and we would not rest until they are removed from office”.

“The Inspector General of Police, IGP Adamu Mohammed has achieved so much since he took over the mantle of leadership of the police force”.

In his efforts to eradicate crime from the country, the IGP introduced operation ‘PUFF ADDER’ which has made so many success stories . Presently he is moving round the country to ensure the establishment of community Policing in order to improve the security situation in the country.

In South East zone,the Assistant Inspector General of Police in-charge of Zone 9,zero AIG Baba Tijani has has lived up to his  biddings in combating crime in zone. People enjoyed their Christmas in a peaceful atmosphere.

In Abia state through the able leadership  of the Commissioner of Police, CP Etim Ene Okon, has done so much in combating crime in the state. It is the ingenuity of the IGP that brought in a CP that has the capacity to fight crime to a stand still in Abia State. The SARS team under the command of the CP have been up and doing. Kidnapping, armed robbery and other social vices is now a thing of the past in the state”, the release stated.

The group, therefore, enjoined the general public to support
police and other security agencies in the fight to eliminate  crime from the society, adding “by giving useful information to the police so that we as a country can win this war against crime together”.
