ILLEGAL ARRAIGNMENT OF SUSPECTS: Zone 2 Command Respond To Claims
The Police Management of Zone 2 Police Command Headquarters strongly refutes the false claims circulating on the internet that operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Zone 2 Command Headquarters Onikan, Lagos, illegally arraigned some suspects.
It is essential to clarify that before any arraignment is made in court, the case file is subject to thorough scrutiny by a Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) representative assigned to vet criminal cases brought before the court by the Police. If a case is found to be civil, parties will be advised to pursue civil litigation, and the case will not be assigned for criminal proceedings.
The Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Olatoye A. Durosinmi, calls on members of the public to dismiss misleading informations aimed at creating distrust against the Police.
It is, therefore, imperative to reiterate that the Police is committed to protecting citizens professionally, in line with the provisions of the law.
