2027 Elections: Mao Ohuabunwa’s Follow-Better Group Endorses Tinubu, Otti, Hails Abia Infrastructure Revival

By Charity Uwakwe

“Former Senator Mao Ohuabunwa’s Follow-Better Organization endorses President Bola Tinubu and Governor Alex Otti for 2027, citing massive infrastructure development in Abia State.”

Members of the Follow-Better Organization, a prominent socio-political movement founded by former Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, have unanimously endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti for re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced on Friday, February 7, 2026, during the 2026 Annual Conference of the Follow-Better Organization, held at Senator Ohuabunwa’s country home in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State.

Ohuabunwa Applauds Otti’s Infrastructure Drive

Speaking at the event, Ohuabunwa—who represented Abia North Senatorial District in the 8th Senate—commended Governor Otti for what he described as a visible transformation of Abia State, particularly in road infrastructure.

“Anybody who comes to Abia today and says they don’t see what is happening, especially in road infrastructure, is blind,” Ohuabunwa declared.

“I am not in the Labour Party, but the truth is that Governor Alex Otti is doing well. I don’t know how they run government finances, but I know that Abia now has good roads.”

He emphasized that his remarks were not driven by personal ambition but by a commitment to telling his people the truth.
Follow-Better Backs Tinubu for 2027 Presidency

The former senator further revealed that the organization had resolved to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, in line with broader South-East political strategies.

“Let us support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for this term. After this, we will then decide our own candidate,” he said.

While noting that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) would eventually field a candidate for the Abia governorship, Ohuabunwa stated that Governor Otti’s performance would be fairly assessed when the time comes.
PDP Restructuring, No 2027 Contest for Ohuabunwa—For Now

A co-founding member of the PDP and Pro-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Ohuabunwa disclosed that the party is currently undergoing restructuring and hinted that he may not contest in the 2027 elections.

“Since 1997, I have participated in every election. But this time, our priority is to fix our party,” he said, adding that congresses and conventions would soon produce new wards and local government leaders.

Three Motions, One Voice

In a three-part motion moved by Dr. Okafor Okoroafia of Ututu Ward, the organization unanimously resolved to:

Mobilize and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for the 2027 presidential election.

Acknowledge and commend Governor Alex Otti for massive infrastructural development and economic empowerment in Abia State.

Reaffirm loyalty to Senator Mao Ohuabunwa and follow his political leadership.
The motion was seconded by Ukpai Ukairo, Esq., attracting loud applause and a standing ovation from members.

Praise, Worship, and Empowerment

The conference also featured an extended session of praise and worship, alongside the distribution of bags of rice and cash gifts to members, adding a humanitarian highlight to the political gathering.
