The Owerri municipal Aspirant for Imo House of Assembly under the platform of All Progressives Congress. Hon. Ugochukwu Obodo has stated that he is into politics to render humanitarian services to the society.
He made the assertion when he hosted the members of the Heaven Link Believers International Network (HELBIN) on a familiarization visit.
Speaking earlier, the vision Bearer of the team, Rev. Emmanuel Ikechukwu Omeokwe intimated the House of Assembly hopeful that HELBIN is a non denominational Christ believers movement that is poised to enthroned good governance by projecting Christ centered and people loving leaders into various positions in government.
He stated that it is high time the body of Christ work together in protecting their interests by insisting and taking active part in the political participation of the polity. He added that it is the mission and mandate of HELBIN to correct the notion that politics is a dirty game which albeit leaves governance in the hands of criminals and occultics thereby making corruption the order of the day detriment of the society.
Continuing, he said that HELBIN has the mandate of correcting erroneous impressions about politics and align itself to people of good continence who will work to the betterment of the society and mankind at large.
Responding, Hon. Obodo thanked the visitors and promised that his entry into politics was for the advancement of society through conscientious utilisation of the comon patrimony. He traced his entry into politics to the days of his chairmanship of his community.
He stated that since his philosophy is in alignment with that of HELBIN, he will be open to work with them to in any area of assistance towards advancing the cause the people of his in particular and humanity in general.
He revealed that he is an accomplished business man that has taken humanitarian services to champion the betterment of the lives of people around him and that has endeared him to his constituents and beyond.
WE ARE POISED TO ENTHRONE GOOD GOVERNANCE (HELBIN)
A faith based advocacy group, Heaven Link Believers International Network (HELBIN) has reiterated its commitment to the enthronement of men of integrity and good conscience to all levels government in the country and world over.
Speaking during its ambassadors meeting in Owerri, the Vision Bearer, Rev. Emmanuel I. Omeokwe, admonished its ambassadors to work for people who are rooted in the ways of the Lord.
Rev. Omeokwe who has been actively involved with the crusade for committed Christians to be participating in the politics of the society, said that if godly people refuse to participate in the governance of the society, men of questionable character will seize the opportunity to continue to reign, and their reign will bear grief and hardship to the people.
The Rev. Gentleman stated that the group has the mandate to enthrone good governance, good orientation and are committed to the mandate saying they will not rest until the society is purged of people who do not have the interest of the masses, rather are aspiring for their personal aggrandisement and the enrichment of their pockets and that of their families with the common patrimony of the society.
The group during the meeting agreed that it will not rest until the society becomes better through corruption free and people oriented leaders.
They resolved that the work of making the society better concerns all and sundry stating that taking part in politics has become a necessity and an issue Christians should embrace if they want to avoid unpleasant experience where anti Christian policies and legislations rears its head whenever people who lacks integrity occupies the exalted official positions.
The group therefore, said they are open to work with men of integrity and honesty to occupy any elective position across the nation regardless of their political affiliations in the forth coming general elections. They however said that such persons will pass their procedural scrutiny to ascertain the level of commitment to excellence and good governance.
