UPDATE: “A Priest Put His Belt Around My Waist” — Sr. Anastasia Recounts Abuse in Auchi Catholic Diocese

A Nigerian nun, Rev. Sr. Kinse who has been on the spotlight since the month of August has opened up more on her many years of sexual harassment in the hands of priests of Catholic Order, in Auchi Diocese.

Rev. Sr. Anastasia Kinse, a member of the Congregation of Mother of Perpetual Help of the Archangels Sisters in the Auchi Diocese, Edo State, has publicly condemned the sexual harassment she allegedly endured during her years of religious service.

Kinse, who joined the order in 2015, shared her harrowing experiences during an interview on Arise News Prime Time, revealing that she has “evidence” of misconduct by certain priests but has chosen not to make it public for now.

The nun recalled a disturbing incident in 2016 involving a priest who invited her to accompany him in his car for a week-long stay at his parish — an invitation she immediately recognized as inappropriate and declined. The encounter, she said, left her wary and deeply unsettled about similar advances within the clergy.

She also described another traumatic episode during a visit to a priest who, under the guise of measuring her for donated clothing, wrapped his belt around her waist — an act she said caused lasting emotional damage.

In her words:

“There was a priest in 2016; he said I should go with him in his car to his parish for a week. And I felt that shouldn’t happen.
Another priest, he put his belt on my waist trying to check the size of the clothes he would get me when I visit him, and that broke me. It gave me a lot of trauma.”.

Kinse said the experiences left her emotionally scarred and disillusioned, prompting her to speak out to expose the hidden culture of sexual misconduct within some circles of the Church.
