In what many have described as a heart-wrenching tragedy, a student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka (UNIZIK), has reportedly died after a suspected electrocution incident.
The student, identified by colleagues as “Fedwin”—believed to be his nickname—was a 200-level undergraduate residing in an off-campus lodge.
According to sources, the incident occurred last weekend when he allegedly slumped while ironing his clothes. A viral video circulating on social media showed the young man lying motionless on the floor with an electric iron placed on his chest, while fellow lodge mates made frantic calls in an effort to get help.
Additional photos shared online later showed him being carried from the hostel and transported to a medical facility.
Subsequently, UNIZIK students confirmed his painful passing through posts on their Facebook pages, expressing shock and grief over the loss.
