Killing of Mobile Officer In Abia: Four Killers Caught *Abia Police command Intensifies Investigations, CP Agbede Reveals

The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Janet E. Agbede has revealed that four of the criminals in connection with the the recent attack on five Police Mobile Force personnel deployed to a nipping point at Okagwe, Ohafia LGA of Abia state, have been arrested.

Famous Reporters recalls that
five Police Mobile Force personnel attached to 28 and 55 Squadrons in the command deployed to a nipping point at Okagwe Junction Ohafia came under attack by about 30 yet to be identified gun men, leading to the instant death of one of the Policemen, Inspector Princewill Divine.

CP stated this during a press briefing at Police Headquarters, Umuahia, the state’s capital, lamenting that the gory incident which left some of the office fatally injured took place at about 1:30AM, during a heavy downpour.

“The importance of this briefing is to formally acquaint you with updates on the attack of five Police Mobile Force personnel deployed to a nipping point at Okagwe Ohafia on Monday 7th September, 2020 and to put records straight.

“It would be recalled that on  September 7, 2020 at about 0130hrs, five Police Mobile Force personnel attached to 28 and 55 Squadrons in the command deployed to a nipping point at Okagwe Junction Ohafia came under attack by about 30 yet to be identified gun men. This incident took place in a Bus Stop pavilion located at the nipping point where the Policemen went in to take shelter during a heavy rain fall.

“The criminals, armed with guns, machetes and other dangerous weapons unexpectedly shot at the policemen and cruelly used machetes on the policemen who in-turn retaliated.  One of the policemen, Inspector Princewill Divine died instantly, another had his wrist cut off while others were left with varying degrees of injury.


“The hoodlums who might have sustained bullet wounds, carted away three AK47 rifles with some ammunition. 


“However, four persons arrested in connection with the incident are helping in the investigation to ensure further arrests and recovery of Police firearms.
Having personally visited the scene, the victims and the neighbouring communities, I hereby appeal to Medical practitioners, all hospitals, trado-medical practitioners and the general public within and outside Abia State to report any person seen or presented with bullet wound(s) to the Police or any nearest security agency.

“Also, on September 8, 2020 at Umuokoro-Umuokpo area Obingwa L.G.A of Abia State, Robinson Otobong Abel, personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Akwa Ibom Command attached to CGGC Global Limited dualising Aba/Ikot-Ekpene road shot and killed one Onyedikachi Nwogu of Umuokoro Umuokpo.  According to the suspect, the major road was blocked and he with other road users diverted to an alternative way where he had an encounter with the deceased. 

I wish to firmly re-assure the Law abiding good people of Abia State and indeed all residents to continue with their lawful businesses.  They should also avoid any act capable of causing breach of the peace.
