CAMA Act: Christian leadership drags Nigerian govt to court

President Mohammadu Buhari The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has charged the government of Nigeria to court, to challenge the lawfulness of the controversial Companies and Allied Matters (CAMA) Act 2020 signed by President Muhammadu Buhari. Among other provisions, the Act allows the Federal Government to arbitrarily merge a new association with an already registered one; suspend or remove trustees; and take over funds belonging to any association. Suit No FHC/ABJ/CS/244/2021 is between the Incorporated Trustees of CAN and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment.
