The Nigerian Army today, Saturday revealed that troops of Operation Sahel Sanity had killed 100 armed bandits and busted 148 others in its ongoing onslaughts against the predatory hoodlums terrorizing North-West region of the country. The Nigerian soldiers also nicked 315 illegal armed miners and recovered 3,984 cows, 1,627 sheep in Katsina, Zamfara Kebbi and Sokoto States. A socio-cultural group, the Alaigbo Development Foundation, on Monday, backed the Federal House of Representatives, on law to empower citizens to carry arms for self-defense.The group, which said the move would reduce rising cases of banditry and killings in the country, claimed the security agencies had failed in their duty to protect lives and property of the citizenry. According to ADF, if such measures are not adopted, the Nigeria would gradually slide into lawlessness and a monumental collapse, which might snowball into the unplanned disintegration of the country.
