Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi, on Sunday, reiterated that the shut Kingdom Model Secondary School, belonging to the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, in Ezza South Local Government Area of the state, Barr Friday Agbom, remained closed.
The school, located on Idemba community, in the Ezza South Council of the state, was allegedly shut down on the orders of the Governor penultimate Monday, for harbouring cultists, who use same to plan their nefarious activities.
Governor Umahi stated this during a Special Thanksgiving Service at the Christ Embassy Church, Abakaliki, on Sunday, vowing to go after cultists in the state, no matter their status.
Umahi said he had personally listed the names of cultists in the state and handed them over to security agents, for prosecution.
According to the Governor, “I insist that the Secondary School in Ezza South Local Government Area of the state, which was shutdown for alleged cultism remains shut no matter the criticisms it has continued to generate, in the state.
“In the few days, we have had a very terrible cult activities but let me warn that we are starting war against cultism again. There are big people that are involved and I will not spare you, I will not spare you and our trouble will not be here, you will be taking to Abuja. We have listed some of these cultists and they are in the cells and I am going to give the names of those who are in cult in Ebonyi state, I will come after them and nothing will stop it. So, we are working on absolute security for the state.
“That school that was shut down because of cultism will remain shut down no matter what they are writing. They said it is because the person refused to join APC, who is the person? Wetin him be? How can I offend the Lord with my position? I can’t do that. They can be writing all sorts of things but it cannot stop us from doing the right thing.”
Umahi directed the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Onyebuchi Chima, to ensure that all schools in the state were closed on Thursday following the new rising waves of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
“ From 18th-20th, of this December, we are sharing the palliatives at the polling units again. There will be no party this time. Give to everybody in the state in each polling unit. Commissioner for Education, I want all schools to round off and close schools latest by Thursday this week, all schools must close by Thursday.
“We need to increase our prayers, they said COVID-19 is coming back; but, his time, it will not come to Ebonyi State. We also need to be wise”, Umahi said.
Meanwhile, the owner of the school, a stalwart of the PDP, who doubles as its helmsman in the Ezza South Council, Agbom, told FamousReporters that he was being forced by the Governor, to defect to the All Progressives Congress, as his refusal to do same, led to the closure of his school by powers that be in the state.
