In strict adherence to Federal government’s recent directive to shutdown schools, market places and all forms of social and religious gatherings in the country, consequent on Corona Virus, the PDP led Governent of Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu in Abia state has at the eleventh hour, called off the long awaited party’s state congress.
FAMOUS REPORTERS recalls that the party had on Saturday, 21, successfully held her local government’s congress which was observed at the various local governments across the state.
Famous Reporters gathered from sources who spoke anonymously that the sudden decision of the party to suspend the proposed congress which as at yesterday’s midnight still rang bell in the minds of members up until noon was a show of total submission to the decision of the federal government.
Sequel to the new development, it was however alleged that the party had suffered utter paucity of funds during the last week’s election which was reportedly saddening to its members.
Some members of the party were infuriated by the inability of the party to fund effectively the said congress, as they alleged that the party could scarcely provide funds for vehicular movements.
Another source who spoke in anonymity alleged that the Secretariat owed backlogs of salaries to its Staff while giving them high hopes on regularly bases.
Meanwhile, the argument ruminating on the minds of the people is whether the postponment of the Congress was entirely consequent on avoidance of crowd as instructed by the federal government of Nigeria or otherwise.
