Peter Obi reacts as Robbers Kill Arise TV presenter Sommie in robbery attack

Peter Gregory Obi, the Labour Party, LP, candidate in the 2023 presidential election, has vehemently condemned the brutal killing of Arise TV Presenter, Somtochukwu Maduagwu Christelle.

Peter Obi expressed grief over the untimely death of the former presenter in a post he shared on his official X handle, on Monday, September 29, 2025.

His statement is coming after Arise TV made the announcement. In the report that surfaced online, it was revealed that Sommie was killed during a robbery incident that took place at her residence in FCT.

Here is what Arise TV wrote;

“Sommie tragically passed away in the early hours of Monday, September 29, 2025, following an armed robbery incident in her residence in the Katampe area of Abuja”.

However, Peter Obi has now shared his thoughts after the report surfaced online. In a post that he made on his official X handle, he expressed sadness over the demise of the presenter.

He said the death of Sommie has proven that govenment needs to prioritize the safety and security of every citizen.

Peter Obi, however, ended his statement by sending a condolence message to the family of the deceased.

Expressing his thoughts, he wrote on his official X handle;

“My thoughts and prayers are with her grieving family, the Arise News family, and all who mourn her. May her soul rest in peace, and may we, as a nation, work harder to build a country where lives are valued and protected”.
