BREAKING NEWS: Man chained, set ablaze in master’s home after disagreement in Enugu

A man who reportedly decided to resign from work, consequent on a momentary argument with his master has allegedly burnt to death while in chains at his employer’s resident, in Enugu community.

The people of Nkerefi in Nkanu East Local Government Area of Enugu State have been thrown into mourning and rude shock, following the mysterious death of their son, Mr. Uchenna.

Uchenna was said to have who was allegedly burnt to death under what could best be described as questionable circumstances in Enugu. This is reported by Famousreporters.com with reference to glintnews24.

According to the publication, the deceased, had been working for his employer, Mr. Uche Michael Adigwe, a native of Delta State and resident in the GRA area of Enugu, for over seven years.

A close source disclosed that throughout his period of work with his former employer, late Uchenna who reportedly served his master with utmost loyalty also lived within his employer’s residence up until a misunderstanding ensued between the duo.

Family sources said the deceased had recently decided to quit his job following undisclosed disagreements with his boss. His sister told reporters that prior to his death, Mr. Uchenna placed a distress call to her, stating that his life was in danger and that his boss would not allow him to leave freely, allegedly out of fear that he might expose certain secrets he had knowledge of.

Shockingly, within 24 hours of the said phone call, Mr. Uchenna was found burnt in the boy’s quarters of his boss’s residence. While initial reports suggested he may have set himself ablaze, new revelations have thrown the account into confusion.

When the family arrived at the scene, they were horrified to discover that the deceased had been chained before the fire consumed him, raising suspicions of foul play. More troubling was the report that some abandoned vehicles near the boy’s quarters were partially burnt, while more valuable cars parked nearby remained untouched, heightening concerns that the incident may have been staged.

The family also accused Mr. Adibe of blocking their request to access the CCTV footage of the compound, which they said could have helped clarify the circumstances leading to their son’s death. In addition, the family alleged that video recordings made during the recovery of the body were deleted by police officers led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) invited to the scene by Mr. Adibe himself.

Angered by these developments, the Nkerefi community has vowed to pursue justice both legally and spiritually for their son. Community leaders and elders emphasized that they would not rest until the truth is uncovered and justice served, calling the circumstances of the death “an affront on human dignity and a deliberate attempt to cover up a heinous crime.”

The youths of Nkerefi have also joined in demanding justice, calling on the Governor of Enugu State, the State Commissioner of Police, and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) to immediately open an independent and transparent investigation into the matter. They further warned that failure to act swiftly could result in heightened tension and unrest within the community.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has appealed to human rights organizations, civil society groups, and the general public to stand with them in seeking justice, insisting that their son’s death must not be swept under the carpet.

As at press time, neither Mr. Uche Adibe nor the Enugu State Police Command has issued an official statement regarding the incident.
