Ogunsan Rallies Lagosians to Support Security Trust Fund, Says ‘Safety of Lagos Is in Our Hands

“New LSSTF CEO, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, urges Lagos residents and organizations to support the Lagos State Security Trust Fund through donations and partnerships to enhance safety and equip security agencies.

Lagos, Nigeria — The newly appointed Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, has called on residents, corporate organizations, and stakeholders to rally behind the government’s ongoing efforts to boost security in the state.

Speaking during a media briefing, Dr. Ogunsan urged Lagosians to support the Trust Fund through cash donations, equipment contributions, public advocacy, and partnerships, stressing that collective action is crucial to maintaining safety in Africa’s busiest city.

“Massive support is required to achieve more,” he said, while releasing the Trust Fund’s account details to encourage public contributions. “No amount is too small or too big to donate.”

According to him, under his leadership, the LSSTF will intensify efforts to provide logistics, operational equipment, and specialized training for all security agencies operating within Nigeria’s commercial capital.

“Lagos is a city of ambition, hope, aquatic splendor, and endless possibilities. For these dreams to thrive, we need safety and security,” Ogunsan emphasized.

Providing insight into the agency’s operations, he explained that the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, established by law in 2007, serves as a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) designed to empower all security agencies in the state—particularly the Rapid Response Squad (RRS)—with modern tools and resources to combat crime effectively.

“Through the LSSTF, we provide logistics, equipment, and training so our security agencies can act faster, respond better, and keep us safer,” he said.

He noted that the Fund has already delivered over 1,500 patrol vehicles, body armour, communication gadgets, and empowered response teams across neighborhoods in Lagos.

“When our security men and women have the tools they need, our homes, offices, markets, and streets become safer,” he remarked. “But there’s still more to do. Lagos is growing, crime patterns are shifting, and our agencies sometimes lack adequate logistics, equipment, and training. That’s where you come in.”

Ogunsan encouraged individuals, organizations, and public institutions to contribute in any capacity possible:

“Whether you are an individual, private organization, or part of government, your resources and voices matter. Support LSSTF with what you can—cash donations, equipment, advocacy, or partnerships.”

He also provided the donation details as follows:

“The security of Lagos State is in our hands—your hands and my hands,” he affirmed. “LSSTF is for Lagos, with Lagos, and by Lagos. Let’s build it together.”

Dr. Ogunsan expressed deep appreciation to Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for his leadership and continued support of the agency.

“We say thank you to Governor Sanwo-Olu, the Chief Security Officer of the state, for sustaining the LSSTF. Your leadership gives life to the Trust Fund and strengthens this Public-Private Partnership. Because of you, more hands are reaching out for safety in Lagos,” he said.

He also extended gratitude to existing donors and partners:

“To our donors—individuals, private organizations, and government institutions—thank you. Your generosity is not in vain. Because of your support and belief in Lagos State, lives are being secured.”
