Ogbor Hill Disaster: Onuigbo Commiserates with Otti, deceaseds’ families, Calls for regulation of heavy truck operation in country
Member representing the South East on the Governing Board of the North East Development Commission(NEDC), Rep. Sam Onuigbo has commiserated with the Abia State Governor, His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti OFR, and the families of the four deceased persons from the Ogbor Hill tragedy.
Onuigbo who spoke to newsmen upon his return to Abuja from a tour of the North East on Friday morning, said he was devastated to read of the tragedy.
The former national lawmaker who condoled with the Abia State Governor, the people of Aba, and the families of the deceased and injured expressed his hope that under Governor Otti, the Abia State Government will find a solution to the issue of heavy duty trucks destroying lives and properties on the Aba River bridge.
Speaking further, Rep. Onuigbo said government must find a way to regulate the use of heavy trucks in the country and ensure that the strictest form of road worthiness is enforced.
On Tuesday, a 40-feet trailer conveying items to an undisclosed location ran into another trailer and a Sienna after a brake failure.
