Evidently, things are moving on smoothly as should at the dual funeral ceremony of Late Eze Israel O. Kanu and his beloved wife, Lolo Sally Nmeme, the parents of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the revered leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in Afaraukwu, Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia State.
The former Senator representing Anambra Central, Sen. Victor Umeh who described the burial as a unique and monumental ceremony, urged the Federal government of Nigeria to restore peace to the various nooks and crannies of the country with same spirit.

Addressing newsmen at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, Isiama Afara during the church service, Sen. Umeh amidst intense sympathy, enjoined the leader of the group, Prince Nnamdi Kanu and his siblings to graciously bear the huge loss.
In his words: “We came to join Afaraukwu Community to bury their traditional ruler and his wife. It is necessary for those who are alive to bury the dead and not just the dead, a king and a knight. It is a provoking occurrence”.
“We facilitate with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and siblings, urging them to bear the loss.
When death calls, you answer the call. We must all see death as something that must happen. Everyone will all die when the time comes, you will test death. May God grant the king and his wife heavenly blessings”.
However, he regretted that the initial tension instilled by the media as a result of the prolonged altercations that occurred between the IPOB and the Nigeria Police regarding who would and who would not attend the epoch making ceremony had prevented a lot of persons to put in appearance at the event for fear of the unknown.
“But the tension stirred up by the media must have prevented so many people from coming”, he said.
On the verbal missiles between the two warring parties consequent on the alleged plot to disrupt the ceremony by the Nigeria Police, should members of the group appear at the event, he said:
“The Bible says we should mourn with those that mourn. We read all that but it did not stop us from coming
Meanwhile, he admitted to the serenity of the atmosphere, pointing out that “nothing shows that there’s any act to disrupt the ceremony”.
