Nigerian Woman narrates why husband sent her ablaze in public, ran away,

The scars that cover almost the entire body of Mrs. Janet Nwihaki, a mother of three, remind her daily of the monster of a man whom she once called her husband. In a heartbreaking story, Janet revealed how the man who once promised her love turned her life into a nightmare — and walked away, free.

Janet’s life changed forever the day her parents divorced. She dropped out of school in Class Eight and went to live with her aunt, where she started working in a small hotel. It was there she met a charming man who promised her heaven on earth.

After just three months of dating, she moved in with him. Things were good at first. They were blessed with three children. But everything changed after the birth of her last child. Her husband began cheating openly, even bringing other women into their home. He beat her in front of them. Humiliated and broken, Janet escaped with her kids and tried to start a new life.

But he didn’t let her rest. He stalked her, begged her to return, and when she refused, he turned violent. One day, he chased her with a knife. She fled and relocated to another town — but he found her again.

Then came the day that changed everything. In broad daylight, in the middle of town, this man poured petrol on Janet, lit a match, and set her ablaze. People rushed to help, but the damage was already done. Her face was burnt beyond recognition. She spent two years in the hospital fighting for her life.

When she was finally discharged, her own family rejected her. They hid her away in shame. Weak, hurt, and abandoned, it was her pastor who stepped in and helped her rent a small house where she now lives with her children.

Till today, the man who did this to her has not been arrested. He is still walking free — while Janet, scarred and jobless, is struggling to survive.

She’s now begging for help from kind Nigerians to raise money to start a small business. Employers won’t hire her because of her face.
