NDLEA Arrests man at Kano Airport with 127 Wraps of Cocaine in private part, stomach
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have apprehended a 52-year-old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, for allegedly attempting to smuggle 127 wraps of cocaine into Nigeria.
Ejiofor, who reportedly owns and operates boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra State, was intercepted on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, upon arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, aboard an Ethiopian Airlines flight (ET 941).
According to a statement released on Sunday by Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, the suspect was arrested following credible intelligence received by the agency. A body scan conducted on him revealed he had ingested several wraps of cocaine and concealed additional quantities inside his underwear.
The statement read in part:
“Ejiofor, who operates boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, was taken into NDLEA custody upon arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, following credible intelligence. He was subjected to a body scan, which confirmed that he had ingested illicit drugs and concealed others in his private parts.
“A total of 58 wraps of cocaine were immediately recovered from his pants. He was thereafter placed under excretion observation, during which he expelled 69 additional pellets in seven rounds of excretion — bringing the total to 127 wraps weighing 1.388 kilograms.”
The NDLEA spokesperson further disclosed that, within the same week, operatives intercepted three consignments of illicit drugs destined for the United Kingdom at a courier company in Lagos between Thursday, October 9, and Friday, October 10, 2025.
One of the shipments reportedly contained 1.74 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed within blocks of glass ceramics, while another held 114 grams of pentazocine and 168 grams of tramadol injections. A third consignment contained 48 grams of tramadol capsules hidden inside a Vitamin C container.
Babafemi added that further attempts by criminal syndicates to traffic various illicit substances to different countries were also thwarted.
“Bids to smuggle 2.6 kilograms of skunk and 422 grams of tapentadol (250mg) concealed in black soap tablets to Turkey; 169 grams of cocaine hidden in ladies’ handbags bound for Australia; and 568 grams of Loud (a potent strain of cannabis) packed inside herbal containers headed to the United Arab Emirates were all foiled by NDLEA operatives in Lagos,” the statement said.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying surveillance and enforcement at airports and courier companies nationwide to curb the trafficking of illicit substances and bring offenders to justice.
