LSSTF Boss Ogunsan Sets Up Monitoring Team to Enforce Strict Oversight of Security Assets in Lagos
“Lagos State Security Trust Fund CEO, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, constitutes a Monitoring Team to enforce strict oversight, transparency, and accountability in the use of security assets across Lagos State.”
The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has constituted a Monitoring Team with clearly defined guidelines, roles, responsibilities, and performance benchmarks aimed at ensuring strict accountability in the use of public resources by security agencies operating in Lagos State.
The move is designed to ensure that all security agencies benefiting from the Fund’s support remain responsible, transparent, and responsive to the public goodwill entrusted to them through the LSSTF.
The constitution of the Monitoring Team fulfills a pledge made by the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the LSSTF, Dr. Ayo Ogunsan, during a recent Strategic Media Parley with senior editors and media executives, where he assured stakeholders that the era of abuse and misuse of public resources was over.
It would be recalled that at the media engagement held at the LSSTF headquarters on December 5, 2025, Ogunsan outlined his leadership priorities, stressing the importance of public trust in the Fund.
“Public confidence in the Fund is essential. Under my leadership, transparency will be the standard, not the exception. We will maintain strict oversight on contractor performance, closely monitor all funded projects, publish regular updates on the utilization of donations, strengthen internal governance and reporting structures, and deepen stakeholder communication and feedback mechanisms,” he said.
With the Monitoring Team now fully constituted, Ogunsan has issued clear marching orders to its members. Their responsibilities include the monitoring and tracking of vehicles and other security assets belonging to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS); conducting routine field inspections to assess the condition of Fund-owned assets; and maintaining accurate records of assets deployed to security agencies, alongside the submission of periodic operational reports.
Other key duties of the team include assessing the utilization of assets provided to security agencies as a prerequisite for further allocations; monitoring repairs and refurbishments undertaken by the Fund; and carrying out any other assignments as may be directed from time to time.
Meanwhile, the inauguration and public presentation of a dedicated monitoring vehicle to enhance the operational effectiveness of the LSSTF Monitoring Team is expected to take place soon.
