Light Beams In Ikwuano, As Mayor Nwaka Redefines Leadership, Embarks On Rehabilitation Of Abandoned Roads
Whenever the name, Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State is mentioned anywhere, what cuts across the mind of everyone who hears the name is: a community battered, shattered and disfigured, waiting anticipatingly for a Messiah who would suture it.
Consequently, the majority of the youths felt a tinge of stigma knowing that they emanated from the area, hence some preferred going by the title “Ikwuano/Umuahia”, thus hiding under the guise of their counterpart.
However, the deluge of questions that reverberated in my mind was: “for how long would these ones continue to hide in a cloak of pretence? And from where in the world, would a true leader emerge to perform the long awaited “Surgical Incision”? And under whose administration would this hope eventually become a reality? I always wondered.
Regrettably, over the years, the people of Ikwuano have had little or no hope of ever having a compassionate leadership whose major focus would be to restore their lost dignity and make them feel a sense of belonging. They have overtime sought for a leader whose leadership prowess would avail them a reason to feel a deep sense of belonging, having endured a protracted marginalisation and subjugation for decades; to enable them get rid of the ‘blot on their escutcheon’ when in the company of their Umuahia counterpart and indeed the entire other Councils that make up the State.
Frankly, stating emphatically that the political affairs of these diligent individuals who are predominantly agrarians have been raped in the selfish hands of some political profiteers, is an understatement! I make no apologies.
The dilapidated condition of roads of various clans in Ikwuano which has undoubtedly crippled economic activities of these agrarians is a notable proof that needs urgent help.
Finally, help has come; the Labour Party Government of Dr. Alex Otti, who methodically scrutinised those he appointed Mayors, has brought about glimmers of hope to the people.
This can be seen in the developmental strides of the current visionary Mayor of Ikwuano, Mayor Osinachi Hyacinth Nwaka, the Founder and President of New Era Foundation (NEF), a renowned Non Governmental Organisation aimed at ameliorating the suffering of the people.
Obviously, Ossy Nwaka has come not only to correct the abnormalities of previous leaders and administrations of Council leaders, but also to better the lots of the people who have over the years, been downtrodden.
He has automatically redefined leadership to mean service to humanity other than the usual embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds.
Today, God has, through Nwaka remembered the various abandoned roads which represented death traps over the years.
Today, the joy and happiness of the people of Isiala Oboro and those living around the axis of Olori, know no bounds as they pour encomiums on Mayor Nwaka over the ongoing rehabilitation of the forsaken roads.
Nwaka has embarked on a commendable move aimed at enhancing the infrastructural development of Ikwuano Local Government Area.
The esteemed chairman, Hon. Osinachi Nwaka, has initiated a proactive measure by mobilizing grading machines. This strategic effort is directed towards revitalizing the long-abandoned Umuigu road, which traverses Olori court to Isiala Oboro.
Recognizing the vital importance of connectivity, Hon. Nwaka has simultaneously deployed another state-of-the-art grading machine. This additional initiative is focused on the rehabilitation of Admiral Rapha Osundu Road, with the ultimate goal of facilitating seamless access to rural communities in the region.
This noteworthy intervention underscores the local government’s commitment to fostering sustainable development and ensuring improved connectivity for residents. The utilization of modern grading machinery signifies a progressive approach to infrastructure enhancement, aligning with the overarching vision for a more accessible and prosperous Ikwuano Local Government Area.
Residents of the communities whose joy was so intense that 8t could be felt, unequivocally expressed profound for this impactful endeavor, describing it as a pivotal step towards rejuvenating critical road networks and fostering socio-economic growth in the region. Hon. Osinachi Nwaka’s commitment to community development continues to shape and reshape the landscape of Ikwuano LGA positively, with these infrastructural interventions serving as a testament to his dedication to the well-being of the community.
“We have never seen it in this form before”, has been the resounding remark sung across the nooks and crannies of the Council. All thanks to the government of Otti, a renowned, world class economist and an indefatigable manager of wealth, for the choice of Ossy Nwaka, the President of Ndi Nwaka Development Union.
Evidently, the present administration of the Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR has given the people of Ikwuano a facelift through his choice of Ossy Nwaka as the Mayor of the Council, and Abians in general.
Today, Abia State is gradually becoming the pride of the South-East with the glorious arrival of Dr. Otti who also has meticulously selected only sound minds to revamp and pilot the affairs of the various 17 LG’s across the State.
This is even as the people of Ikwuano and entire Abians who were initially stigmaferous can now boldly walk with their shoulders high as they now unapologetically pride in God’s own State.
