Light Beams Again in Ikwuano Council, As Mayor Nwaka Resuscitates Dilapidated Borehole Barely 3 Days In Office

In a groundbreaking move, in line with his promises, Mayor Osinachi Nwaka of Ikwuano LGA has spearheaded the successful revival of a water borehole with full reticulation, in a bid to provide uninterrupted water access across all council facilities after a decade.
It could be recalled that the ebullient leader of the Council had, on his day of resumption in office, issued a 48-hours ultimatum to the Council’s Head of Service, to repair the Borehole which had gone moribund over the years.
FamousReporters.com reports that during the town hall meeting held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, Mayor Nwaka, while engaging with dedicated council staff, received accolades from the latter for his proactive approach.
Further discussions during the meeting shed light on the dire circumstances faced by council staff, who, due to the dilapidated state of conveniences, resorted to using nearby bushes for defecation and personal relief. This unfortunate situation resulted in incidents of snake bites, and female staff members encountered their male counterparts while seeking privacy for basic needs.
Responding empathetically to the various challenges as it bothered the Council, Mayor Nwaka without hesitation, directed the Head of the Department of Works to expedite efforts in not only restoring water supply but also implementing a comprehensive reticulation system for all parts of the council
This directive aligns seamlessly with the Mayor’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all residents, emphasizing the significance of basic amenities for the overall well-being of the community, in accordance with the Labour Party’s Government of Dr. Alex Otti, promise to improve the livelihood of the people across the State.
The ambitious and transformative initiative, as gathered, stands as a testament to Mayor Osinachi Nwaka’s dedication to community development and his proactive stance in addressing critical infrastructure needs. The Mayor reaffirms his commitment to the welfare of the people and the advancement of Ikwuano LGA.
This developmental act which took place barely 72-hours of resuming office, is a perceived show of an unwavering commitment to the well-being of the community thus prioritizing the restoration of critical water resources.
Famousreporters.com gathered that the comprehensive reticulation system now serves all conveniences within the council, hence it addresses a crucial service that had languished in disrepair for over ten years.
Earlier, some of the staff had expressed intense worries over the negative effects of the absence of a healthy water supply in the Council.
Reportedly, the impact of the deteriorated amenities extended to youth corps members residing in the quarter, compelling them to trek over 2 km to fetch water.
Meanwhile, the staff expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Transition Chairman, noting that “this is the first time we are being entertained with a meeting involving the chairmen. We’ve never had it in this manner before “, they responded unanimously.
