The Chairman of Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has urged his supporters in the forthcoming local government council polls, to eschew actions capable of making his opponents to deem him unfit for reelection.
Hon. Clement Odah gave this charge during a meeting with journalists in Abakaliki, the state’s capital, advising his fans to resist any attempt that would make them reply his rivals with violence or any form of attack.
Odah, amidst optimism, assured that his emergence in 2020 as the Council Chairman, was miraclous, as he recounted that before his assumption of office in 2017, the Council was ravaged by cult related activities.
“Today, under my watch, cultism has been fought to a standstill, in the area”, he said.
The Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission, had slated April 25, 2020, for the local government election in the state, across the 13 LGAs and 171 political wards.
According to him, “My project is divine and if you see my campaign poster, it has inscription “Power belongs to God”. I am not struggling with anybody. The position was given to me by God, using divine agents.
“I am absolutely so sure that I will win the election. I have the conviction within me, that as God is on my side, the delegates will vote for me.”
Meanwhile, a Senior Advocate of France, Barr. Francis Ogbonnaya, has urged the Chairman of Afikpo North Local Government Area, in the state, Mr Enyim Oko Enyim, to go back to his constituents and beg them, for his reelection.
The SAF, who spoke to our reporter expressed great happiness over the performance of the Chairman, in his first term, however, could not hide his worries prompted by his envisaged refusal of the people to have the latter reelected by the people.
He said, “Being a leader calls for humility and humility attracts grace. The Afikpo North LGA Chairman, Enyim Oko Enyim, has done well; but, there are still people who still feel he didn’t perform and wouldn’t want him to come back”.
“He should go and beg those people. World over, that is what great leaders do and it’s not a crime. It’s a mark of humility and maturity. That will endear him to his constituents, the more.”
