Lagos Police Arrest Influencer ‘Peller’ Over Reckless Driving, Live-Streamed Crash

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained popular social media influencer, Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as “Peller,” following a viral video showing him driving recklessly while live-streaming, an act that reportedly led to a dangerous road crash.

In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP), the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the arrest.

According to the statement, “The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained, for further investigation, Habeeb Hamzat, also known as ‘Peller,’ following a viral video that surfaced online on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in which he was seen driving recklessly, leading to a dangerous road crash and serious motor accident while the incident was being live-streamed.”

The police noted that the suspect’s actions endangered not only his own life but also those of other road users. The statement added that “his conduct constitutes a deliberate attempt to endanger life and exposed innocent members of the public to grave risk.”

SP Adebisi further disclosed that “the case is currently under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), and the outcome of the investigation will be made public. The suspect will be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction in accordance with the law.”

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, issued a stern warning to social media influencers, content creators, and members of the public against using online platforms to promote or engage in reckless, unlawful, or criminal acts.

“Such lawlessness will not be tolerated. The full weight of the law will be applied to any offender,” the Commissioner warned, while urging all road users to strictly adhere to traffic regulations.

The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring public safety, maintaining peace, and protecting lives and property across the state.
