JUST IN: Wife, mother of wanted ‘bandit kingpin’ Ado Aliero arrested by authorities
Two women identified as the wife and mother of one Ado Aliero, a wanted notorious terrorist, have been reportedly arrested in Saudi Arabia.
According to reports, the duo of the terrorist’s mother and wife (names withheld) were nabbed in Medina after they were spotted in a mosque.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, had shared a video of two women believed to be Aliero’s wife and mother, and tagged the Nigerian Army headquarters on X.
In July, 2022, Aliero, a suspected bandit kingpin, was covered with a turban as Sarkin Fulani in Zamfara state, thus making it difficult for him to be identified.
Earlier in November, 2020, Aliero was, alongside 18 other Bandits, declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters (DHQ).
In another development, Aliero was listed among 97 wanted terrorism suspects in 2024.
According to TheCable news, when Onyinyechi Anele, acting director of army public relations was contacted for comments, she described the matter as “a strategic issue that involves bilateral security issues”.
She advised the reporter to direct further enquiries to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) or the National Orientation Agency (NOA) for clarification.
However, all efforts to receive a response from Edward Buba, defence spokesperson, were futile as of the time of the press.
