ISOPADEC: Olu Imo Raises Alarm Over Incessant Sack Of Indigenes Calls For Fiscal Check Of Commission

Following the recurrent sack of Indigenes of Ohaji/egbema and Oguta the major oil producing communities in Imo State from Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, (ISOPADEC), an Activist and Public Affairs Analyst, Prince Maduba Chukwudi Francis has, amid worries, called for a fiscal check of the Commission.

Prince Maduba, in a statement issued to Famous Reporters charged the management of ISOPADEC to adequately “account the 16months allocation accrued to the Commission”, while condemning in totality, the indiscriminate discharging of Indigenes of the various oil producing communities by the Commission.

“ISOPADEC should explain to the oil landlords, everyone from the oil regions and Imolites in general what they have been able to do with 16months allocation dully received by the commission. These monies run in billions of naira but yet nothing to show for it.”

The proud son of the soil who vowed to to look deeply inwards as to ascertain the criteria for recruiting indigenes of Oru East, insisted on knowing why such was carried out “without sorting for public opinion.”

The enraged Human Rights Activist who accused the management alongside the APC led administration of impoverishing indigenes of the oil producing communities, threatened to venture into thorough investigation into the despicable acts as displayed by ISOPADEC management, ranging from the illegal dissolution of indigenes of Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta and subsequent employment of Oru East indigenes.

“In these coming months if nothing is done about these, I shall begin investigations on why the indigenes of Ohaji/Egbema and Oguta were illegally dissolved from being staff of the commission and how Oru East indigenes were employed, afterwards I shall bring institute claims against ISOPADEC, its management and the State government for depriving the people of the oil region their rights and subjecting them to hunger, suffering and abject poverty.”

Olu Imo in his state of indignation, bemoaned the poor performance of the present leadership of ISOPADEC, noting that the latter has not been able to actualize any project since its emergence.

According to the Analyst, “the present management of the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ISOPADEC has spent over one year in office and yet are unable to point out any tangible project to their credit that benefits the people of the oil region in Imo State.

Also, he warned the various Contractors to desist from lobbying ISOPADEC Appointees, lamenting that, “most appointees have cultivated the culture of collecting bribes and lobbies from contractors in other to help them facilitate the approval of contracts.

“This has led to these contractors disappearing into air once paid without getting these jobs done”, wailed, regretting that such act would only tantamount to corruption seeping through the Commission thus rendering same irreparably damaged.

“If this continues, then soon, corruption will begin to eat deep into the commission and by then, it will be too late and difficult to fight.”
