The Anglican Bishop of Umuahia diocese, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Geoffrey Ibeabuchi has given a nod for the agitations for restructuring in the country for better running of the administration for even development and protection of the sovereignty of Nigeria and her citizens.

The Anglican Bishop who made this known to newsmen in Umuahia, Abia State capital, had insisted that restructuring was long overdue for the country.

Bishop Ibeabuchi urged electorates to elect competent leaders in the coming general election slated for 2023, who will react positively to the yearnings of the people at all times, just as he noted that the political leaders should always be accountable to the people at all times.

The Bishop also lent his voice to the call by well meaning Nigerians for President Mohammadu Buhari’s administration to take a second look at the country’s security apparatus with the view of paying more attention to securing lives of citizens of the country.

According to the Bishop, if the security apparatus is not doing well and needs to be overhauled, government should not waste time to do so rather than allow citizens of the country be mowed down like animals across the country without anyone doing anything tangible to secure and protect them.

His words, “The government will always say that it is on top of the matter, but unfortunately, this has never translated to action. Our government must rise up to the challenge of securing lives of citizens as well as their property, whenever and wherever they may be”.

“Journalists are being killed, innocent and are being killed here and there and nothing is happening about it. It’s not a good one. So, we call on the Government to rise to the challenge to ensure that our lives are secured because nobody knows who will be the next victim”

According to the clergyman, Abia State seems to be a forgotten state in terms of infrastructural development even as he had advised political office holders to strive at all times to translate its acclaimed giant strides to physical things that are visible and tangible.
