Imo PDP commences E-registration, sensitizes leaders and members on modalities

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State has become electronic registration (e-registration) compliant, following its adoption of the unique Party membership register policy recently established by the National Working Committee (NWC).

In a one-day conference organized by the State Working Committee (SWC) for the 27 Chairmen of the Party and some critical leaders at the Party State Secretariat, Okigwe Road, Imo State on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, the Party confirmed that it has keyed into the e-registration policy of the Party, urging members of the Party and the people of Imo State to register in the exercise.

In his opening remarks, the State Chairman, Engr. Charles C. Ugwuh, OON, who was ably represented by the State Deputy Chairman, Sir Martin Ejiogu, thanked the LGA Chairmen and Chairperson for attending the conference, stressing that the essence of the meeting was to sensitize them on the modalities of the e-registration exercise.

He urged them to apply themselves to the explanations by Nze Meekam Mgbenwelu, the Party’s representative on the E-Registration Committee constituted by the NWC, which has the Edo State governor, His Excellency, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, as Chairman.

The tutorial was expertly delivered by Nze Meekam Mgbenwelu, who served as Honourable Commissioner for Technology Development in the PDP RebuildImo administration that led by His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, CON in 2019.

He stated that the e-registration exercise is a policy programme of the Party at the national level, which will be implemented at the Ward and Local Government levels, explaining that it was conceived and designed as a computer-based Party register where the name, membership identification number (MIN) and other relevant biodata information of every bona-fide member of PDP will documented.

The essence, he clarified is to enable the Party at each point in time have easy access to the membership strength and information of the Party to enhance empirical statistical needs of the Party in the organization and administration of the Party at the national, State, LGA and Ward levels.

Nze Meekam Mgbenwelu further explained that there will be Ward Registration Agents (WRA) in each of the Wards in the 27 LGAs of the State, with the Ward Chairman serving as the lead WRA, with their main function being to use computers or smart/android phones that will download the relevant app to enable them register both old and new members into the Party’s online e-registration programme across the State.

The resource person stated that there is a working module for the programme in which the step-by-step processes for the e-registration exercise, which has been distributed to the 27 LGA Chairmen/Chairperson, who should in turn pass it on to the various Ward Chairmen in the respective LGAs.

The LGA Chairmen/Chairperson present at the conference included Hon. Mrs. Chinyere Okoro (Orlu); Hon. Sylvester Durukwuaku (Ideato South); Hon. Chijioke Njoku (Ezinihitte); Hon. Ibe Anyanwu (Ahiazu); Hon. Agu Ozims (Mbaitoli); Hon. Geoffrey Ihentuge (Ikeduru); Hon. Sam Iheaturueme (Obowo); Hon. Chidi Anasomba, Hon. Onyebuchukwu Cajethan (Oru West); Hon. John Eke, Hon. Sir Cornelius Okere, Hon. Chief Morrison Njoku (Ngor Okpala), Hon. Chidi Arimnuta (Njaba), Hon. Pius Omah (Isiala Mbano), Hon. Chukwuemeka Ubenwunne (Onuimo), Hon. Ubawuchi Agiriga, Hon. Uche Igbokwe (Owerri West), Hon. Chief Chidiadi Ukah, Hon. S. Oke, Hon. Nze Philip Onyenali, Hon. Okonkwo Emmanuel.

Party officers from the Southeast zone, including Hon. Mike Ahumibe (Organizing Secretary) and Sir Stanley Ekezie (Ex-Offico) attended the conference.

Also present were some SWC members, including Barr. Magnus Chibuisi Obido, Asst. State Chairman (Orlu Zone); Barr. Uche Igbokwe, Asst. State Chairman (Owerri Zone), Hon. Nze Sir Law Biaduo, State Organizing Secretary; Barr. Josiah Eze, State Treasurer; Barr. Kissinger Ikeokwu, State Legal Adviser; Comr. Greg Nwadike GOC, and Ogubundu Nwadike, State Publicity Secretary.

State Women Leader (Owerri Zone); Hon. Mrs. Ruth Nwokeocha, Asst. State Women Leader (Okigwe Zone); Mazi Emenike Nmeregini, Asst. State Publicity Secretary; Hon. Njaka Duruiheoma, Asst. State Secretary (Orlu Zone); Hon. Kizito Onuoha, Asst. State Secretary (Owerri Zone); Hon. Mrs. Amarachi Owuamanam, Asst. State Secretary (Okigwe Zone); Hon. Ben Mere, Asst. State Organizing Secretary (Owerri Zone); Hon. Kelechi Duru, Asst. State Organizing Secretary (Orlu Zone), Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwokeke, Asst. State Organizing Secretary (Okigwe Zone); Hon. Also present at the conference, in addition to the 27 LGA Chairmen/Chairperson, were some Party leaders, including Hon. Sir Bon Unachukwu, Hon. Sir Oliver Enwerenem, Hon. Mishak Ozoemena, Hon. Umelo Hyginus V. C, and others.

The Imo PDP New Media Committee was also present, including Comr. Collins Opurozor, DG; Hon. Dede Walax Ihezie, Deputy DG; Miss Joy Oma, Secretary; Hon. Noble Regis, Member; and Hon. Samuel Mbah, Member.

Generally, it was a very good meeting that was designed to advance the cause of the Party in the State through the instrument of the e-registration.
